Course Overview:

This course is designed for all skill levels, whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist looking to refine your skills. Under Roland Stevenson’s expert guidance, you will explore the fundamental techniques of sculpting the human form, with a specific focus on creating a human bust. Roland will cover essential aspects of human anatomy, proportion, and pose, helping you understand the principles of sculpting realistic and expressive human figures.

We begin each class with a comprehensive demonstration, followed by personalised assistance, supervision, and advice. You will receive full support throughout the day.

By the end of the course, you'll have created your own human bust and gained a deeper understanding of sculpting techniques. You'll leave with newfound confidence in your ability to sculpt the human form, armed with the knowledge and skills to continue your sculpting journey.

Programme:

Morning Session (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM):

• Introduction and Welcome:
  • Meet Roland Stevenson and your fellow participants.
  • Introduction to the materials and tools you'll be using.
  • Overview of the day's schedule and objectives.
• Human Bust Sculpting:
  • Begin with the basics of human anatomy, focusing on the structure and proportions of the human head and upper body.
  • Understand the importance of studying real-life references and anatomy books.
  • Demonstration of basic sculpting techniques, including building armatures and creating initial forms for a human bust.
  • Start working on your human bust sculpture, focusing on the basic shape and proportions.

Lunch Break (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM):

• Lunch Break (please bring your own lunch).
• Take this opportunity to discuss your progress and ideas with Roland and other participants.
• Socialize and network with fellow sculptors.

Afternoon Session (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM):

• Refining Your Sculpture:
  • Continue working on your human bust, adding details and refining facial features and expressions.
  • Roland will provide individual feedback and demonstrate advanced techniques for sculpting realistic skin textures and hair.
• Final Touches:
  • Focus on final touches, textures, and finishes for your human bust.
  • Discussß finishing techniques to enhance your sculpture's appearance.
• Showcase and Feedback:
  • Display your completed human bust and receive constructive feedback from Roland and your peers.
  • Discuss the challenges and successes of the day, and share tips and techniques.

Throughout the day, Roland will provide personalized feedback and tips, helping you refine your technique and bring your sculptures to life. He will also offer insights into his own sculpting process, allowing you to gain further understanding and inspiration.
